What do the different temperature zones in the wine cooler mean?

Basically, there are three different options when it comes to temperature zones in a wine cooler: single zone, dual zone (two zones), and multi-zone.

A single temperature zone is used when you have one type of wine that requires the same climate (+/- 2 to 3 ˚C). Warm air rises, which is why it is possible to set the bottom of the cabinet to 10-11˚C and expect the top of the cabinet to be 12-13˚C. It is recommended to use a shelf thermometer to monitor the temperature.

Two temperature zones, also known as dual zone, mean that the wine cooler is divided into two compartments separated by a divider. Two zones are predominantly found in smaller cabinets. These cabinets can be used as a combination of storage and serving cabinets.

Wine coolers with a multizone have two temperature zones. The zones are not separated, so the two temperature settings will mix in the middle of the cabinet, creating an additional third zone. Multizone cabinets can accommodate wines with different climate requirements while keeping serving-ready wine at the top of the cabinet.
